Lights, Camera, Simulation: A Look Behind the Recording Process at CESIS-UV
Picture this: a bustling simulation center filled with healthcare professionals and educators, ready to embark on a journey of learning and producing new tools. The Center for Interdisciplinary Simulation in Health (CESIS-UV) gathered us around to begin recording our simulation, there was an air of excitement mixed with a hint of nervousness in the room. After all, this was our chance to showcase our not-so-commonly explored acting skills and creativity while also having a bit of fun along the way.
With cameras rolling and scripts in hand, we dove headfirst into our roles. From portraying patients with unique medical conditions to playing the role of physiotherapists and nurses in intricate ethical scenarios, each of us brought our own flair to the table.
But what truly made the experience memorable was the camaraderie and teamwork that permeated throughout the entire recording process. Despite the occasional flubbed line or missed cue, we laughed it off and kept pushing forward, knowing that we were in this together.
As the day drew to a close and we wrapped up filming, there was a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction in the air. Not only had we successfully recorded a simulation that would serve as a valuable learning tool for our colleagues, but we had also cultivated empathy by stepping into the shoes of situations that any healthcare professional may encounter in their daily environment. This not only allowed us to depart from our usual roles but also enabled us to address certain issues that help reinforce the ethical climate in our own day-to-day actions.
In the end, it wasn’t just about recording a simulation, it was about coming together as a team, embracing our creativity, and fostering a deeper connection with our work for trying to build a better healthcare environment. And for that, we are truly grateful.
