EthCo – For better ethical safety in future health care environments
Unethical conduct burdens healthcare work community and weakens commitment to work. This has an impact on employees’ occupational well-being and the way of taking care of patients. (Future) healthcare professionals must have skills to foster an ethically safe atmosphere for both the patient and staff – to implement care according to the patient’s needs, respecting patient’s self-determination and treating patients equally.
Project aims and target groups
EthCo – For better ethical safety in future health care environments -project aims to strengthen ethical competence of the health professionals by offering educational Coaching material including theory lessons, structure for Ethical Coffee Room discussions and ethics simulations.
EthCo is a 3-year Erasmus+ project (2022-2025) co-funded by the European Union and implemented in co-operation with 5 European countries, Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Malta and Spain.
Target groups of the project are nursing and physiotherapy students and professionals in the field.
Project results
- Participants educated during the project increase their ethical competence and are able to adopt the role of an ethical coach in their organisation educating others and that way ensuring ethical safety at the workplace.
- The project harmonizes ethics education and the competence level of health professionals working in the partner countries.
- Open-access EthCo Tool is offered to HEIs, Associated Partners and other stakeholders interested in virtual learning environment for dealing with ethics.
