Simulation scenario A 30-year-old patient is post ORIF malleolus repair. The patient has been refusing to take analgesia medication in view of the potential side-effects. As a nurse you have just finished assisting the patient with bathing in bed and the physiotherapist is waiting so that both of you can help the patient mobilize out of bed.

As a physiotherapist you are due to mobilize the patient out of bed for the first time after surgery. However, the patient has a pain score of 8/10 and does not wish to mobilize or take the medication prescribed.
