Simulation scenario

The patient is a 45-year-old woman who has been hospitalized for several weeks due to an infected wound on her lower leg. The wound appeared after a fall trauma two months ago. The healing process has been slow due to unusual bacteria growing in the wound, it has been difficult to find suitable antibiotics. The wound is quite large, and the patient has a lot of pain. She can only take a few steps and it’s difficult for her to move from bed to wheelchair. She has several chronic illnesses and has spent a lot of time at the hospital.

It’s 11 am and a nurse student and a physiotherapist student enter the room. They introduce themselves and explain that they will together assess the patient’s ability to move in order to make a plan for mobilization. The patient says that she does not want the students to do anything with her, she says that she is so tired of being taken care of non-qualified staff.
